I'm Tim Mackey, the mind behind GradeScan, and I'm thrilled to share my journey with you.
During my pursuit of a Master's in Computer Science at National University, a glaring inefficiency caught my attention: despite the prevalence of computers in our classrooms, final exams remained stubbornly tethered to paper. It baffled me that in an age of digital convenience, we were still slogging through stacks of paper come exam time.
Our dedicated professors, valiantly striving to curb cheating, resorted to laborious measures like crafting multiple exam versions. Witnessing the ordeal of grading, with its mountains of paper, I couldn't help but feel there had to be a more efficient solution.
The realization dawned on me: no educator dreams of spending endless hours grading exams. Surely, the task of discerning filled bubbles from empty ones could be entrusted to technology.
Thus, spurred by this conviction, I embarked on my Master's Capstone Project: an ambitious endeavor to create a groundbreaking application that would revolutionize exam preparation and grading. In just eight weeks, I transformed this vision into a proof-of-concept application: GradeScan.
The overwhelming enthusiasm I encountered during the project's presentation fueled my determination to refine and expand GradeScan into what it is today.
